"Picked this up during a long weekend and honestly didn't know what to expect from the premise, but the philosophical conversations between Harry, Harmony, and Henty really worked for me. The "Imaginistas and Creaturtorials" stuff got a bit weird at times (not always in a bad way), but I appreciated how it challenged my thinking about perception and reality without being preachy. Only gripe is that the pacing felt uneven in spots - some sections flew by while others dragged a bit."

"The five stars are for readers who commented on my book - In The Beginning. This tale began in the mind of a 12 year old kid when he entered a writing contest for an elementary school newspaper The Weekly Reader. I wrote an essay comparing ancient religions to modern ones. It was a time when the internet did not exist. Libraries and encyclopedias were among the very few sources for research. I read up on Greek, Roman and Norse Mythology along with current belief systems. I came to the conclusion that if the old religions died out and were replaced by new ones, the same fate could befall current sects. I did not win but received honorable mention. My teacher commented that I might have won had I reached a more positive conclusion as to the destiny of the current ones. The story stayed in my head for decades while I added to the plot and refined the characters. In 2017 I flat-lined twice (See my non-fiction - The Lazarus Syndrome) but recovered and realized that I better put it to paper in case I failed to survive another medical disaster. After researching Neanderthals and my DNA test determined that I carry 3% Neanderthal DNA [As well as most of European descent]. I chose them as the Pre-Historical heroes. I found in my research that they were not the ape-like savages depicted in old movies and other books. They were quite intelligent and after their genome was analyzed, most previous assumptions were abandoned and new, more positive conclusions were adopted. I apologized to our distant cousins for giving them mono-syllabic names since I was almost done writing when I discovered that their DNA and HYOID bone determined that they were capable of complex speech. I did not wasnt to go back to page 1 and change all their names so I kept the original ones. The book is Historical Fiction - The plot is fiction but Neanderthals are depicted as close to what they were really like. (except for their names -maybe). There are now many You-Tube videos with more details and latest Neanderthal information. Enjoy! J-Reyes"

FAITH - Une histoire américaine ( French Edition )

"This reminded me a bit of *The Natural* but with a more lighthearted, almost whimsical take on baseball mythology. The premise of Manuel finding a magical bat that guarantees home runs is fun, and I liked how Lagacé weaves in the business side through Franck Richantall seeing it as a publicity angle for the Rays. My French isn't perfect so I probably missed some nuances, but the story moved along nicely and had that great mix of sports drama and fantasy elements that works surprisingly well together."

Arraken

"...so this was a solid fantasy adventure with a lot of moving pieces. The monk's journey kept me interested and I liked how Owen shows different power players all scheming at once - the corrupt clergy, the Duke preparing for war, etc. Got a little bogged down in the middle with all the different POVs, but overall it's a good pick if you want something with political intrigue mixed into your fantasy. Would definitely read the next one if there is one."
